LOTUS welcomes you to the hit game show Trapped in Paradise! We hope you find your time here highly...transformative.
Trapped in Paradise is a game heavily inspired by Stranded and Wracked. An unsuspecting individual, you signed up to participate in a game show advertising a $1 million prize! But you really should have done your research beforehand...
It's TF or be TF'd on this cutthroat show where no one can be trusted. An arcade-style game with a character-centric focus where the fun is in the journey, and your chances of making it out unscathed are slim to none.
DEMO 0.3: Another quick fix, fixed a couple broken image links and added some images for the starter items. Attempted to find a workaround for players with zoomed browsers (unlikely to be 100% perfect, as the UI revolves around vw for the most part)
DEMO 0.2: Added option to disable Eva's AI speech effect; Added more of the alread-collected images for the intro (Models used for main characters are subject to change in the future, as I currently don't believe that any except Caprice are the right vibe); unhid the Images folder
DEMO 0.1: First instance of the Demo
Its a good start, but as mentioned in the synopsis, it is heavily influenced by older games... to the point that some of the presentation is not just influenced, but is exactly the same, which makes me uncomfortable. I would suggest it either needs some distinct gameplay or presentation elements, or doing something better than the aforementioned older titles, to stand above being just a mash-up of those games.
Update pre-0.0.3
First and Foremost-I apologize for my earlier review. I was very blunt in my misgivings to similar UI of earlier games. I am a big fan of those earlier games, and I very much want to ensure those authors are not lifted from outright, but improved upon. I am absolutely an asshole, and am willing to take the heat for that (my switch nature). I very much want you to continue on, as again I am a fan of this genre... I love that you have brought back the slow M2F transform instead of the insta- of newer iterations, Stranded had been one of my go-tos. I have yet to fully play through this latest iteration you've sent out, but please continue on "creating"... as someone who hopes to one day put out their own kinky fetish game, you've already surpassed my own skills and I want to encourage you and maybe draw upon your successes as incentive to create my own. Keep honing your vison and make it all your own, and I'll end up fully in your corner calling you "Master" of this format.
Feels like this game takes the best parts of the two games it's inspired by, the UI from Wracked and the characters seem to be closely based on the ones in Stranded. This might provide the definitive version of both. Overall, I enjoyed the intro, and am looking forward to more!
At this point just the intro is available - although the intro is quite a lot as you have an opportunity to get to know the contestents. While the game is based on the previous games, so far it seems much better put together and the motivations of the characters seem more consistent / understandable. The other contestents have interesting backstories and personalities. A lot of potential here, can't wait to see it develop.
I honestly really like what I see so far and sincerely hope this project gets finished. I know the comparisons are being made to Stranded and Wracked but honestly what's wrong with more games like those? Stranded was amazing but even it has it's flaws so if this game is able to do something similar with a bit opf polish on certain areas that Stranded didn't have then I'm really excited.
I feel as though people are being too harsh to this game. It is well polished and well written. Sure, it's premise is nothing new, but I don't see what the issue is. Stranded is good. Wracked is good. Why can't this game be good as well? It is far to early to see how SuperCali is going to add thier own spin to the formula, but I believe that what is on display so far is evidence that they can deliver a well put together game. I hope that SuperCali sticks with it, and doesn't go the way of the dodo, as many others have. I think some encouragement is in order, rather than the scathing reviews this game has recieved so far. It is a good intro. It is a good start. I am personally excited to see where this goes. C'mon guys, lets bring some positivity.
