Mockingbird v0.1.2!
And so we go... public! Welcome to the café. I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun together, in this new adventure in my (6six6's) connective narrative universe. A collaboration from myself and Icarue, Mockingbird is a bit of a fever dream of ideas and experimentation, so I'll let the game speak for itself. I hope you enjoy!

Interesting premise! They went all in on the red herring twist. You'd think it's gonna be one genre but it's a completely different one altogether! It only *slightly* overstayed its welcome. but i'd rather it be a little longer than expected than for the pacing to be faster. The bones of the game (mechanics, gameplay) seems to work great as is on alpha release. very promising, which makes sense considering these are seasoned TF game devs. The only thing that's noticably missing is more content! zero notes. great execution, great everything. can't wait for the mechanics to be fleshed out with content!

As always, 6six6 and icarue are coming with a really well-produced, high concept game with engaging gameplay mechanics and a compelling story. I think writing, especually the dialogue is a bit rough at places. I also wish we didn't see the characters with their "two versions" at the very beginning and that was kept for later. The gameplay mechanics are also generally unclear, including but not limited to the more polished parts at the start. It is still on an entirely different level to most of the games on this website and it is brilliant work, an actually good game.
High quality, as I would expect from six and icarue. A few notes: the game tries and succeeds at subverting your expectations. This is not really a spoiler, but more of a hint: If you think the game is over, it's probably *not*. Try playing it again and see what happens.
I'm very excited to see the story that wraps these excellent systems together and brings this game fully into six's narrative universe.
Mild spoilers!
The minigame mentioned in the first review is a bit of a red herring. I agree, it overstays its welcome and should probably feature fewer repetitions, but it is, so far, exclusive to the introduction of the game. Once you're past that, what opens up is an entirely different game system that I enjoyed to the point of playing it for over an hour or two, just for fun.
The primary game loop is great, if a little too easy at the moment. Unfortunately, whatever payoff the game designers have in mind for making you grind through that first section has yet to be implemented. The good news is, you can skip it with codes in the ReadMe Documentation folder, if it truly grates on you, and at least sample what appears afterwards. The TF and roguelike themes are woven together in a fun way.
