Mystic Blades Of Somaria

Benedictum Interactive's Mystic Blades of Somaria ("B.I.M.B.O.S.") follows a young man's descent into forced (or is it?) feminization in a game world.  This story takes place in a near future world where VR technology has progressed to the point that information can be pushed and pulled directly into and out of a person's brain.  The result is a virtual world that can feel just as real as the real world... but can you even trust what you are thinking and feeling when the system is in control of everything you perceive?

This is my first serious attempt at making an interactive story.  It was originally created for the Virtual Worlds contest but it was not in a state to be published before the deadline.  It is still very much a work in progress as of the time of posting.  The Transformation Themes reflect the content that is currently in the game; I plan to add more themes with regular updates.

Please note that is an interactive story more than it is a traditional game.

You play as Brandon Doe, a rather average young man who's on a break from school and work.  One day, you and your friend Mike sign up for a new MMO that is in the beta phase.  You end up forced into a female avatar and sent down one of two class paths (Thief or Cleric).

The game contains a lot of graphic sexual content -- for you and a few other 'Premium Beta Experience Passport' holders -- but it seems to be having an effect on your mind.  Will the game also start affecting your mind and body in the real world?

You - An average young man who does not have to worry about school or work for the summer.

Mike - Your friend

There are currently no branching paths that have a serious impact on the story.  The most significant choices in this release are essentially "Do you want to see a sex scene?" and "Do you want the sex scene to go further?".  This tab will be updated as necessary to identify missable scenes of interest.

(Last updated 19 Oct 2018)

  • Initial release

  • Changed the name!  I am still open to suggestions!
  • Added rudimentary "Examine Self" menu item
  • Fixed variables from the StoryInit passage all the way throughout.  So many errors with variables.
  • Added a few more passages to the plot.  All threads should eventually point you to a placeholder "Dead End" passage.  The final link before this passage is marked, so you'll know before you click it.
  • Minor tweaks and corrections to the text in multiple passage.

Later in the day 2018-10-19:

  • Attempted bug fix to clothes shop passages

  • Added some art work after the character creation segment (thanks daviezwei!)
  • Expanded the story through the first solo quests as either Thief of Cleric
  • More minor tweaks and corrections to the text in multiple passage.

Scenes are damn well written and fairly unique. Waiting for more.

There is enough content here to warrant a quick download and playthrough, and the content is good at showing the quality of the game and the direction it is going in. I am looking forward to updates on this game and hope the author can maintain momentum while avoiding burnout.

9/10 (reserving that last point for the future)

Not much added in the new update and I would recommend those that played previous versions to just wait for another update as the new content is a fraction of the original.

Excellent job, but rather short. Worth the time!

It's extremely preliminary of course, but I think it's well written, particularly the post-transformation adjustments and mental alterations that hint at new feelings and knowledge, instead of the common cop-out of swapping in a new character and personality. I'm looking forward to more!

Less a game and more a story where you occasionally make "choices" and press a button to advance to the next few paragraphs of text.
