Suffers from tone and pacing issues.

The concept of the story is very silly (oops mad scientist turns you into hot girl, sexy hijinks ensue) but it takes itself really seriously despite that. The endings in particular deal with themes like death and abusive relationships and it makes it very difficult to enjoy the erotic scenes because they're couched in middle of all this human drama. Many of the sex scenes take place immediately after a character dies and it completely kills my desire to jerk off.

So, maybe it's not a success as a porn game. Is it a success as a visual novel, a story? No, I wouldn't say so either.

I do like the way you uncover characters' pasts across different routes bit-by-bit, so the context sort of slowly unfolds as you gather endings. I've always enjoyed that kind of structure in a VN.

The characters are all really unlikable though. The protagonist is fine, he's kind of a blank slate, but that's pretty much the point. The main "love interests" (to use the term loosely) are mostly just legitimately horrible people. Then as you explore the story you get introduced to all these minor characters, which might get you excited to see how they'll stir up this murky situation, but mostly they don't do anything at all.

It all adds up to a bad paradigm where no matter who is on my screen I don't really like them or want to spend time with them or in their headspace. This is just a really poor situation for a VN. It's fine to have evil or mean characters in a VN, even really, really evil ones, as long as I (the reader) enjoy spending time with them and want to learn more about them. The cast isn't just morally despicable, they're also really lacking in charisma.

But like I said, it's also really, really hard to enjoy as porn, because of all the constant death and depression.

Perhaps because it's trying to present both these dramatic and erotic elements, it also really struggles with pacing.

Calibration Error has a lot of scenes that overlap. Even just going through a single route there's the repitition of "go into machine, penis gets small, tiny boobs grow" next day "go into machine, penis gets slightly smaller, tiny boobs grow slighty" repeat. Then there are a bunch of scenes which are almost exactly the same, word for word, except one line is different, which is a nightmare for trying to 100% because the "skip read text" function in this game works on a scene-by-scene basis, not a line-by-line basis. And then there's just a bunch of plot threads that seem to go nowhere.

Essentially what I'm saying is that a strong editor could probably cut the runtime in half and lose very little in the process. I definitely felt like it overstayed its welcome.

That's pretty much all I have to say. The presentation is good; UI, music, etc. are enjoyable. I don't have any particular complaints about the 3D models.

I hope if nothing else the amount of words I had to share about it makes it clear that although I don't think Calibration Error is really worth playing, it's not because I hate it or I think the whole thing was a terrible idea. It's just much less than the sum of its parts, and the whole way through playing it it looked like it was about to get better and I was excited for that to happen and it never did. It ended up being a quite disappointing experience, at least for me.

One of the few games that actually illustrates a slow MTF transition with quality models. There are games that describe the transition via well written text, and that can sometimes be very erotic, but this game does a great job of using images to depict the gradual body, face, and even attitude changes the MC goes through.

This game creator has made some of the most interesting games on this site, and this early example is one of my favorites. I haven't played through all the possible paths, but then again I am into MTF tranformation so why would I force the MC to resist?

I enjoy a good text description of transformation, but it is quite rare to find it illustrated as well as this game does it. I just wish there were more games that did it this well!

Finally finished all endings for the game, including th esecret ones (I think). This is not just a porn game, but also adresses a number of other philosophical topics, such as being, morality and friendship.

The graphics, UI and sound design are really good. The story is a lot of fun. One playthrough is good, but this is really a game where trying to find all endings is fun.

In terms of improvement; Some characters (e.g. the doctor, stephfather), don't add much to the story. To make the replays more fun, I think they could have been left out, or have a shorter presence in the game. I was missing one character, I'll post about that in the forum. I really would have lovedsome more resolution to the secret endings.

Fun game, high quality!

This is pretty good. It has a sci fi story, multiple endings, some sexy art, simple gameplay. The game has a bonus for completing all the endings so it would be better if the paths were more distinct, using more of the characters, so that you weren't pressing autoskip so much.

Best plot of any game I've ever played in here! The sissy elements aren't as extreme as in other games (no chastity here folks) and it's mostly m2f transformation and little else. Play it for the kinky stuff, stay for the plot. And remember: Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead.
