1.01 fixes a broken image and makes it so images should display on linux, otherwise the same
"To borrow a neighbor" is a short sexy, complete game. I made it both as a challenge to myself to see if I could make a game in a month (I can't) and to teach myself Sugarcube. After much delay it's finally complete.
You play as a generic college dude who is down on his luck due to not doing well in classes. The one bright spot is that he has three good looking neighbors. One day he recieves a stone of possession and it seems natural enough to try it on his neighbors. Can he resist the allure of the stone, and does possessing him change his neighbors or him?

The neighbors:
Diane: A studious college student a couple of years older than you. You love to watch movies and hang out with her. Sadly she already has a boyfriend.
May: a real gym rat the same age as you. She loves to work out but has a hard time studying. She keeps inviting you to work out with her but seems happy to keep your relationship as friends.
Ms. Alice: Your next door neighbor, she's a young housewife who take a great joy in sharing her cooking with you.
Details change based on who you posses, not the order of the possession. Otherwise the game is pretty self-explanatory.
Discover more about your neighbors by visiting them!

Never been into possession and aren't into it now either, but this thing is a gem no matter which tower you look at it from.
The premise is original - possession with direct consequences for the possessor.
And the execution is flawless.
It's well put together structurally and it's just as long as it needs to be.
The writing is, without exaggeration, just perfect. It's short yet perfectly descriptive. It's decorated to just the right extent to make it feel neither the slightest bit dry nor the slightest bit watered down. Storytelling at it's finest. I wish I could sing it's praises in more details, but I really just don't have better suited words of description for it than these ones, sorry.
The images (the 3d set) are perfectly fitting to the game's goings on. You could almost hear them telling you the story in their own visual way. The posture, the fine details of clothes, even the facial expressions and hair. They all tell you who those people ARE. I've seen other game's authors go to great length with their "versatile" avatar systems, but that versatility turns their paperdoll avatars into actual dolls with zero story to tell. If images could in fact talk, theirs would still be mute, because they can't afford any details with all that versatility. But since this game isn't trying to be a 6 month long day-to-day life simulator or some such (no offence to life sims), it's images CAN and DO tell the stories both of the other characters and of MC's growing resemblance to them. Truly an exemplary achievement, IMHO.
100/100 - This is a gem that does only what it's meant to do, knows how to best do it, and doesn't miss a single beat doing it that way.
I wish there were more games like this. Instead of a big, open-ended project, what we have here is a small, self-contained gem, that is pretty much completed and exploits one intriguing concept to satisfaction.
You have a choice to possess three of your female neighbors over a period of three weeks. Each neighbour is very diferent (they're "submissive wife", "sports girl", and "sexy nerd girl"). Each possession leads to a sex scene with you in their body. Also, after each possession, you undergo a transformation that causes you to become more like the girl you just possessed.
The end result of your transformation depends on how many times you possessed each of your neighbours and in what combination.
Pretty nice concept and nicely implemented.
I have two criticisms, though.
The first one is that the endings are too short. Particularly if you try to mix-and-match. If you possesses the same girl three times in a row, this isn't so bad, because the progression is clearer, and the last page with the ending is more of a "confirmation" of what was already pretty evident after your last transform. But I wish the writer were more creative with the "final fate" of the MC when choosing to mix-and-match.
The second criticism is that there is a HUGE effort to make this game as wholesome and light-hearted as possible, despite the potentially dark theme of possessing people against their will. I suppose some folks who dislike more "twisted" erotica will find this a positive. I am okay with it, but I wish the player could choose if they want to play as a nice guy/girl, or if they want to abuse the power.
For instance, I REALLY wish there was an option to possess one of your neighbours a fourth time, and to make the takeover permanent, completely stealing their life. There is teasing about the MC thinking about how good it feels, how jealous he/she is of their life, but in the end he/she always wimps out and does the right thing.
Thank you for finishing this! Really high quality game.
Neat game. I like it.
A nice start. Looking forward to more interactivity.
