I have been working on RPG Maker MZ game for a bit. Feeling like showing the world what I got so far, even if it is kind of rough and there is not a whole lot of it. Broadly inspired by most of the popular RPG Maker games on this site, particularly Blood Magic and Magical Camp. Slow, demonic M2F is the main planned focus, with corruption and ill-advised contracts on the side.
Estimated 15-20ish minutes of gameplay so far, although if you skip literally everything and know what to do, you probably can run through in 5ish. This first version probably going to feature a bunch of bugs, weak grammar and a lot of awkward, clunky phrasing; I apologize in advance.
Planned focus on a gradual, somewhat resistable transformation in a deals-and-agreements sort of demon, with a side focus on corruption and ill-thought-out oaths, deals and promises.
Updates weekly. Criticism very, very much welcome.
Somewhere, a mage attempts a desperate ritual to save her from a demon. In yet another world, a person goes to sleep, and wakes up in another world, involuntarily involved in a ritual that is going to change their life forever.
0.0.1: Initial IGDB Release
0.0.2 Hasty fixes for a number of bugs, amongst which is the one that stopped players from reaching real end of content. Some fairly minor adjustments to dialogue/grammar fixes.
All I can say is that it's a nice premise and some things could use polishing. Anyway, a great start worth following.
The premise is quite interesting, Blood Magic and Magical Camp are some of my favourite so really expecting a lot from this.
Of course the narration at the start could use some fixes, as well as the talk between characters needing more details and emotions, it sounds a bit hollow, in future updates expressions could be modified too to convey a more lifelike feel to the characters.
Also found the bugs seen by the other reviewers.
Assuming that doing the purple crystal is the current end of content, calling this version 1.0 and a beta seems, well, to be blunt. Objectively wrong. Not to be an ass or anything, but the introduction isn't even finished and so far only contains vague allusions to the game's proposed themes. In my opinion, calling it a concept would be more accurate.
That aside, i'm not going to turn down more games in the "genre" of magical camp and blood magic. Though what is currently available reminds me of Afterlife then either of them. This site will always benefit from having more games with a legitimate plot and progression besides just sex related things.
As for the other things i've noticed, you seem to forget articles exist. There is a lot of the's and a's and such missing from the text, which is odd because I think that's the first time I've encountered that type of error. You also described something that happened in the past in present tense, and improperly too. It doesn't really detract from the understandability of the text, but it is really weird to read (at least to me anyway)
I also encountered the two bugs the previous reviewer stated, but at least one more bug as well. When you investigate the pile of rocks that gives a magic ring, you can repeat that dialogue to get infinite magic rings. Also, this might not be a bug, but it is really odd so i'm going to comment on it anyway. In the weird astral void place, you touch a purple crystal, which brings you to a beach with a blue crystal for it's weird maze challenge thing; and then when you complete it, somehow you also absorbed the energy from the yellow crystal? When you have only been interacting with the one crystal and the mage lady has only been talking about the crystal in the singular sense? Whatever is going on there needs to also be rectified.
TL:DR Not a bad first release per say, but there is very little here so i'd wait until then.
I did the darkness crystal and it doesn't seem like I can go any further. I like what I see so far, but the game is way too early in development to say much more.
Two bugs I noticed:
If I try to jump back to the starting island, I get stuck on the 1x1 tile and get softlocked.
When I use Hellfire, there is no text declaring it.
