v1.0.2 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/0i26jvu4tfmw2qn/JourneyOutside102.zip):

Beta version Twine game with better production quality. The TFGS link to the left is for the older v1.01 version.

Setup of the game looks good with the menu layout you're given, but it is a text-based game and there are no other images. Introduction is well written and you have some interactive choices to make on the CYOA pathways that can lead so some transformations and world building. Specifically of note the majority of the game build attention has been given to the "Find the water!" pathway instead of the "Look for plants that can be eaten" pathway.

There are some spelling and grammar mistakes in the game, but not enough to get into a twist over. Going through what I've found in the game, there are some bad endings (some of which you'll get railroaded on to and never realise since there are still more option choices occurring) and other dead endings that aren't written into the game yet.

But sadly there's just not much of a game here beyond that: you're teased once again with promise only. I think it's abandoned from how long it's been since there was an update but you never know these days.

Worth a look.

It's a decent game with enough content to occupy your attention for one, maybe two evenings. The smut is well written, though what's there is mostly for those who prefer playing as victims. If you're not into that then playing this game would be a waste of your time.

+ It's short but action-packed.

+ Your choices matter and that's a huge plus that deserves it's own point, even if there aren't actually that many important choices to make in this game.

+/- A lot of unavoidable sexual violence.

+/- According to the author "the story has over 90,000 words and is approximately 35% complete". Whatever ambitious plans they had for this game, it doesn't matter now, but fortunately what's there isn't just an introduction to a story that goes nowhere. The Journey Outside offers several paths with clear or implied endings that make the whole package feel closer to 70% complete, assuming those unfinished paths would end similarly to the finished ones. Don't want to say more here because the game heavily relies on the surprise factor.

+/- The story is more about adapting to the unpredictable than forging your own path. As I said above, what's there is mostly for those who prefer playing as victims. The player agency is limited in those paths, which isn't necessarily a flaw at that point of the game.

- Your choices do matter, but the most important choices are also the least intuitive.

- Later into the game, your character might also do things you wouldn't want them to do.

If you want to play this game, there's a link to 1.02 version on page 34 of the discussion thread. The IGDB entry is outdated.

Pretty good story. Several nice scenes although there are no pictures at all which is a bummer. Surprisingly long but still the end of content comes at a surprise. There aren't really that many choices the player can make and I don't know how meaningful they are other than flavor. I liked the beginning, then I thought the story took a completely unwanted turn but later the story managed to get more interesting again.

I don't know what everybodies problem is. I love it! Everytime I ran into an unfinished branch I'd usually curse in dissapointment. Your very descriptive, and have created your own world and society that I was actually eager to explore. Keep it up!
