Without a doubt my favorite game on this site. It seems like I check here ever day hoping that its been updated. An incredible amount of interesting transformations with plenty of fun characters, and a surprisingly engaging story. I'm honestly really interested in seeing what happens next.
Monline sets the standard for a masterwork game. It starts slow, but it literally has weeks of content and only gets better as you advance. It has an incredible number of creative transformations which are often written extremely well and built into the gameplay. There really isn't anything else like it on the internet, and I really appreciate the huge amount of work the author must have put in to make it.
I've been playing this game since 2020, and every time I log onto the site I hope to see a new update. Hands down, Monline it's the best game on the site. Congratulations.
After about 4 hours playing I came away liking Monline but it took a long while to get there.
The start of the game is a slog, combat takes forever which isn't helped by the enemies in the first zone having a self-heal ability. They aren't much of a threat, but both you and they deal pathetic damage starting out and you might as well turn on auto-battle and go do something else for the minute and a half it takes for combat to end. Worse, there's normally only one type of enemy per zone so there's little in the way of variety to battles. It wasn't until a couple hours in that I got my first party member, after which the pace of combat picked up significantly though it still felt a little slow when critical hits weren't going off etc. Boss fights on the other hand feel like a breeze and melt before it feels like they've really begun, but that feels more refreshing than anything.
The majority of transformations are bad end game-over states from losing in combat and they range from a few paragraphs with one or two pieces of art, to long epilogues with continued gameplay segments. They range quite a bit in quality as well as how in-depth it describes the transformations and sex scenes etc. Practically all of these bad ends result in identity death in various degrees. There are other transformations in the game though, including events and quests where NPCs get TFed, and optional story events where your player character is transformed which seems to result in branching paths for some critical path quests which is pretty cool! There are also a veritable shitload of the bad endings, including (if I'm not mistaken) variations based on whether you have party members with you at the time and depending on if you're currently transformed.
The art is sort of all over the place. The overworld sprite art is your standard RPG Maker fare for better or worse, but the enemy sprites in combat are pretty good. Where it gets incredibly shaky though is the full-screen art used in some scenes, particularly TF scenes. It ranges from some really great looking art, to really amateurish stuff which while it could work fine on its own is *really* glaring when placed directly after much better looking pieces, which it regularly is. Art styles, quality, visual details, character designs waver wildly between each slide in a lot of these scenes and it's really jarring. Obviously this is a free game on the internet so I'm not expecting pro art for every scene but the visual whiplash in some scenes cannot be understated.
Overall, it seems like a pretty solid game and it's clear a lot of effort has gone into it over the years. It took about 3 hours of play for it to really click with me, and during those 3 hours I was prepared to drop it several times but was just interested enough to persevere and I'm glad I did. I'll probably play it some more and see how or if it continues to hold up.
