Hookey! is a transformation text adventure written in the TADS 3 engine by Cleo Kraft.

It went bad. Horribly bad. Your best friend, Chancey, convinced you into skipping school on test day. He had it all worked out too, with fake notes from both your moms and a fake departure to school so Chancey and you could sneak out to the lake and go fishing. The plan worked perfectly and the two of you would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for one thing - Mr. Gortun, the truant officer who happened to spot Chancey and you at the lake that day. You both made a run for it, Chancey going off into the woods while you ran the other way, heading into town. Running didn't matter. You were both spotted and got two weeks of after school detention, scraping up bubble gum off the school corridors and picking up litter on the school grounds.

That's not even the worst of it. Chancey is flunking science class now because he missed the test and it was too much for him to handle. He slipped a letter to you in your locker which indicated he was running away from home. Then, weeks later, you get a strange phone call from someone who sounded like Chancey only in between words he sometimes made strange cat-like meowing sounds. He claimed he's under a curse that's gradually turning him into a cat. It's far too embarrassing for him to be seen in public, he says, so he's opted to remain hidden in a cabin in the woods. Then just this morning he called again, telling you he was in real trouble and needed your help "meow bad." He's asked you to cut school and meet him at his Uncle's cabin out by the lake. Thing is, you're already at school. It's early yet, so there's not too many other students around that could spot you but if any of the teaching staff catches you trying to sneak off the school grounds, or the principal or truant officer catches you, it could mean more after school detention.
