Elsbeth's Small World

A warrior has a curse placed upon her that causes her to steadily shrink in size. Now she has to fight common pests.

This latest adventure ended in disaster for Elsbeth's party. The bard had attempted to seduce the orc tribe's leader and was killed for it. The rogue stole all the parties' loot in the early morning and skipped town. And the cleric decided the bard *just had* to have a proper funeral and left as well. Now, Elsbeth is alone, stuck in a back-water village she never even learned the name of, with only a single coin in her pocket. What's worse, rumors circulate of a plague of mysterious creatures which roam the nights, annihilating all who have not sought shelter.

So, Elsbeth decides to do the only thing she can...She'll track down that damn thief and punish him! Will she succeed? Or will she lose the plot in the opening act?

Spoiler alert: She will. Poor Elsbeth is ambushed by a hedge witch the moment she tries to leave town and cursed to steadily shrink in size. Now she must fend off common pests as she makes her way to the town's wizard.

Spoilers are in white text. Highlight the areas in the boxes to read them.

Boss/Clue Locations:

Abandoned Farm:

[ Boss is the Raccoon to the east. The clue is due north, almost next to the exit. ]

Inn of Questionable Repute:

[ The raccoon spawns in the far southeast corner. The clue is under the bar. ]

Weapons Shop:

[ The rat spawns behind the middle armor rack. He is often hiding behind the armor and is hard to spot. The clue is the northernmost armor rack. ]

Lord's Manor:

[ The rat is in a side-passage to the west, underneath the 'stairs'...the layout of this map is a blown-up version of the north and east walls of the building you start the game in.

If you can run past the rat, there is a nail behind him that can be picked up and used as a weapon. ]

Also, there is a 'bonus clue' in case you miss one, and if you're really struggling with the bosses, if you smoosh 100 pests before making it to the wizard, you can get the endings anyway.

A very nice game, overall.

I love shrinking TF, and this definitely delivers. While it is PG, it still gives you the feeling of slowly shrinking (incrimentally, not continously, but still very nicely done). As you get smaller, the foes you face are bigger on screen and your hp and damage are reduced. The combat overall is intresting and shakes up traditional affairs, and still keeps the game fair even when you're teeny tiny.

Humorous dialouge but still manages a semi-serious choice at the end. There's a few auto-game overs but most are telegraphed early. The weaponshop descriptions were a nice touch as well.

Overall, it's a nice run through, roughly 90ish minutes.

Great game!

The fighting mechanics are fun and chalenging. The story with the true ending is good formulated. All in all a good game..

But there is nothing if you lose to the beasts. This game has potential for beasiality and 'fun' with the pixies. It says preg in the themes, but this game doesn't have anything above PG.

Please consider making this a 'sexy' game as that would make this even more fun.

4 stars so far.

v1.0.1:

Blitzed through this game in under 90 minutes, it's a light-hearted tale and seemed like more of a tech demo for what was done in Playing Both Sides (see Steam).

Story is amusing enough, there are plenty of interactive gameplay elements within it and a story that doesn't take itself too seriously. There are a few "sudden ending" moments that can catch you out of the blue, but the majority of them really telegraph that it's stupid of the player to do it so you often have time to save first.

Transformation in the game is strictly a PG-rated affair and is focused entirely on the shrinking. It's central to the story of course and beyond that any other transformations are connected to a story end.

Worth playing. It is not a grind affair and is done well enough that the only obvious coding bugs I found were how to beat the railed sequences with little effort (stay in the bottom corners and don't move: tank the damage).

Interestingly enough this tech demo was good enough to get me to check out Playing Both Sides (see Steam).

This is an excellent little game, with perhaps a solid two hours of content.

I know a lot of people are turned off of RPGmaker games, so I want to go ahead and say that Ailius1 has replaced the conventional jrpg battle mechanic with something much more streamlined. Even then, it's not very grindy at all.

There's a lot of creativity, and inovation in this game. In many ways it reminds me of a childhood daydream, I suspect many of us had, in being shrunk down to miniscule size, and exploring, and surviving the world.

There's a healthy dose of flirtatious and playfully sexy content, but it's largely clean, focusing on two or three transformations.

It reminds me a bit of Purrspective. I highly recommend everyone give it a play.
