Cracked EDEN

Cracked EDEN Cover

Cracked EDEN is a Card Game made in RPG Maker MV heavily inspired by Orchard University Remastered, and taking bits and pieces of others games like Hanayome 2.
This game was made with the idea of being Gameplay first, and everything else orbiting around the Combat System, from the Story to the TF System.

The Combat System is about using Cards to fight your opponents, as they try to Transform you during combat.
Build your Deck to beat your opponents as fast as possible so they don’t have a chance to TF you, or come prepared to carefully defeat them as you revert any changes made to you in the process.
But Beware!
Each Transformation inflicted upon your Body or Clothes will affect you negatively in some way, from reducing the Damage you inflict with attacks, to causing you Damage and reducing your Max Energy each time you use a card of a specific Type.
If you let yourself get transformed too much, you may find yourself in an unwinnable situation!

The current release includes:

  • Playable Level 1 + 1 Bad End: The Royal Manor, where Maids will try to convert you into one of them
  • Character Art made in Kisekae 2 for all characters. After playing the game, go tell the creator of Kisekae 2 that he's doing a great job
  • 2~ Hours of Content
  • 25.000~ Words
  • Complete Transformation System
  • LOTS of Art Placeholders

Planned Content:

  • Add more Side Events and Bad Ends to Level 1
  • Create Custom Art assets for the Game (Will continue using Kisekae for the Characters)
  • Add Music and Sounds to the Game
  • Fix Typos and Misspelling all across Level 1
  • 3 more Levels, each one with their own Themes, Mechanics, and Cards.

I welcome all feedback and opinions, since I want to make this game better going forward! And if making this game and making multiple versions where I somehow messed up something I had already fixed, is that making a Game is hard and I need people to point at my mistakes!

This is my Entry to the contest "The Future 2124".

When a young man navigating through the Virtual World of EDEN crosses to a new server, he finds the hard way what happens when a group of Hackers manage to crack into its systems.

Fight your way out with your deck of cards before they can change you into their willing slave, or succumb and lose yourself to a new programming.

Version 0.1.11b:

  • - The number of Cards Drawn at the beginning of the game was wrong. This has been fixed.
  • - Maid 1 had the wrong HP, a leftover of some bugtesting I did. This has been fixed.

Version 0.1.11:

  • - The Housekeeper is now a proper Mini-Boss.
  • - Added a Mulligan at the beginning of the battle.
  • - Updated the Art of the Virus card so it says it gives you a Virus Card at the beginning of the turn, like it is in play.
  • - Inherent Cards now not appear on the Choice Screens.
  • - A few small adjustments.

Version 0.1.10:

  • - Changed Compression from Rar to zip so maybe more people can download it. Don’t know how it works or if I did it right, I don’t really get it yet.
  • - Fixed a Bust Image on the Boss Event at Full TF that failed to load.
  • - Made it so Self-Damage cards penetrate AM.
  • - Fixed Looking Pretty not giving the Stat Boosts, and the Overclock either not working or hitting twice.
  • - Changes on the chances and conditions for enemies to use specific attacks, keeping the more dangerous attacks from appearing too easily and often.
  • - “Cleaning the Mansion” now doesn’t use its complete effect if the previous card wasn’t “Clean”.

Version 0.1.9:

  • - Leveling Up or Discarding the “Maid Training LvX” Card causes it to enter a Loop that went straight into the game Over. It has been fixed.

  • - "Assassinate the Master’s Enemies" used by the Enemies is doing 5 Damage per Male's Clothes and repeating itself for each Males Clothe's. It should be doing only 5 damage per repeat. This has been fixed so it only does 3 Damage and Repeats for each Male Clothes.

  • - Maids in the Kitchen fight now wait an additional turn before joining the combat.

  • - The Genitalia TF now reduces Cracking by half what it did before.

  • - The Height TF now reduces Storage Capacity by less. At Level 1 it doesn’t reduce, and at Level 5 it only reduces by 3.

  • - Fixed Waist Cards so they specify that they also affect your chances of inflicting Status Effects.

  • - Fixed some parts of the scenery the player could walk over.

  • - Fixed “Maidly Etiquette” so it doesn’t give Storage Capacity, it now gives Energy as it should.

  • - User and Admin Modes weren’t giving the TP they promised per turn, only at the beginning of battle, making them not too much easier than Hacker Mode. This has been fixed.

  • - Fixed a Bug in the Kitchen Event of failing to load a Bust, sending an alarm non-stop of that mistake.

  • - Fixed “Maid’s Cooking Utensils” that wasn’t healing the Damage it said, and increased the amount of healing.

  • - Fixed “Maidly Etiquette” used by the enemy not doing the Damage it should.

  • - Fixed “Tidying Your Uniform”’s Overclock not giving Clothes.

  • - Fixed the Event on the first battle after beating the Housekeeper not giving Energy.

  • - Fixed the Dialogue at the end of the first use of a Virus showing the wrong Character Bust.

  • - Fixed “Hide Weapons in your Uniform” used by the enemy not making you Discard.

  • - Fixed Detection Ranges of Enemies not working as they should.

Version 0.1.8:

  • - Fixed some Enemy Attacks appearing as Gray Empty Cards.
  • - Default Body Parameter’s Overclock now works properly.
  • - Enemies now don’t speak when dead.
  • - Fixed receiving Maid’s Ribbon when should receive Maid’s Gloves and viceversa.

Version 0.1.7:

  • Initial Release

It looks good for an early release.

I do Agree with all the point Anthroform makes about the gameplay. Try to speed up some animations and also make the enemies attacks and animation go automaticly maybe?

Also the UI could use some improvement, it is not hard, but tediuous to select or move around between cards and the 2 menu buttons in game. Maybe add in a combat log that looks like a chatwindow for transformations and attacks? Right now when multiple things happens you miss the text anyway.

Starter deck could use a bit more variety or level 1 needs to be shortened abit so the deck can be changed up faster. 1 change that could benefit is having a larger handsize to startout to give more options.

What I liked

Artwork is nice, I happen to like the artwork you used here. The dialogue is fine and set up is fine. The game is good attempt at a card game, but since it is a cardgame, it will be judged as such. Hope you can continue to make good progress :)

As the game is it is playable and I really look forward to future updates.  Thanks for letting me play

The concept is great. The implementation needs more development.

At present the combat rapidly becomes tedious and unengaging. Tedious because of the sheer number of clicks everything takes and the number of brief pauses. Unengaging because beyond the first handful of turns there is no decision making.

To expand: Turn starts and you play a card, select and confirm, then the effect plays, then you are asked if you want to overclock (which most of the time you do), then a slow OVERCLOCK animation, then the second effect. On the enemy turn they play a card, which you need to click through, then they spout a line, then you get the very brief pop-up of what changes happened. And with how damage-spongy enemies are you have to go through this process many many times.

Aside from the first 5-10 turns depending on deck you are always going to have more energy than you need to play the two cards you draw. There is a reason why most card battler games have you discard your hand then draw a full hand next turn.

There is a great deal of potential here but for the moment it just isn’t a fun experience. I look forward to seeing this after more development.

Hey Reiko!

Just wanted to let you know I got an error trying to extract your game's .rar from any of the three downloads.

I got  a Windows error "extract archive: error 0x8096002A, no information available."

I was able to look into the archive and saw some of the files, but hopefully there's a way I'll be able to try your game soon!

Very good first impression!

This first version shows enough promise for me. I will definitely keep an eye on the development process! While there is - as the developer themselves pointed out - still a lot of improvement to be done, i do see great potential.

good job so far!
