Brands of Desire

You play a Felix, a sword wielding mage. With the 'Master Brand' and the power that comes with, you must struggle to survive. The gods of Elslin (the game world) have marked you for death. You're forced to use your new found powers of mind manipulation to build up you forces and fight your way to freedom.

The current release contains three to four hours of content (depending on how fast you read.)

For more info please read the first post in the discussion thread. A poll has been added.

Just copy and rename Attack2 to fix the missing Attack1 error. The game engine left it out. It seems to forget that the file that the plugin are important too.

I enjoyed the prologue. It was a story of a likeable band of adventures on a quest of discovery. Once the game got past the prologue though, there seemed to be a lot of promise with very little delivery.

There were grammer and spelling mistakes but that was not what bothered me about the game.

The combat balance felt a bit strange. During the prologue I used mana potions solely as ad hoc healing potions by giving them all to the healer. Once I got into the game proper I found myself fighting with very little strategy and simply taking a trip back to the inn to heal approximately every four fights.

The flow of the game needs some work. The prolouge was understandbly linear but I felt overly railroaded. The creator of the games decided to break the fourth wall and specifically state that a certain item was a bonus for people who explore (which I thought meant that the creator liked giving things to people who like to explore), but then gave nothing else to explore. There was almost nothing to interact with and many of the cool looking things that seemed like they would be fun to interact with ended up being impossible to reach (and appearently just window dressing). Then once I got to the game proper I found a lack of flow. Both the begining task of going to this specifc random town and the hunter guild caravan quest I found myself wandering around until I happened to find the correct place to go.

The 'your bound to me but still retain your free will and stuff' approach that is taken with the Master Brand is an interesting take that isn't just a magical harem creator (although I do hope there is at least a bit of that in the game eventually/)

There are a few other intersting parts of the story too.

-----------------------------------

Overall this seems like it has the potential to be a good game, but for now it's not there. For now its just sort of 'meh'. I do hope that this game will continue to develope and doesn't die and go to limbo. I am excited about what it could become for I get the feeling that it has more potential than the average RPG maker game.

Is the save function bugged? I cannot save the game once I reached the second level of the tower.

So far, this game has a lot of potential. The story is quite interesting and the characters are different as well. I haven't seen any possession or corruption content yet, but I think that'll be coming as the game is developed more. There are a few spelling mistakes and perhaps some grammar too, but I could make out what the characters were trying to say. The prologue is indeed fairly long and you can lose if you do not loot extra healing items hidden in the environment. The game is entertaining that I cannot wait for the next chapters. Keep up the good work! About what gamemaster232 said, I tried to save often. Luckily, I haven't experienced any crashes on my end.
