I have an opinion that the author just hates the main character and wants him to suffer... Calvin is presented as a stubborn guy, but in the game he is completely weak-willed and allows everyone around him to use and humiliate him.
Otherwise, one of the few interesting games with very rare updates.
Both iterations of this game are awesome, though I should mention that Illia's Mansion download from mega contained something that WIndows Defender identified as ransomware...it quarantined it immediately, and I was still able to play the game, but a little sketchy either way.
I just hope that Press-Switch fleshes out more paths that focus on the trait changing abilities, like the (very short) chain with breast expansion and reduction.
In a lot of ways, it reminds me of a less polished, but in a lot of ways more interesting Student Transfer (which I consider to be a huge compliment).
I have been paling this game for around a year or two end every time i start it up it never gets boring.everything seems to be very fitting but the only con is the updating speed XD.Overally its really interesting story and world.
This is just going to be a review on Illia's mansion and not the original visual novel.
The non Canon side story of Illia's mansion is roughly 3 hours of content that is a linear story following the group playing a reality altering boardgames. Due to the kind of things going on, the Visual Novel can get really confusing due to particular things that happen. The visual novel does do its best to try and make things as clear as possible buy if you quit partway through a run the side story again, you might get lost on who is who.
The transformation themes and situations that go on during the game though and really intriguing and I feel the concept of Illia's mansion could have gone even further though for what it is, it is a complete experience and side story that was enjoyable and interesting.
Whew.. Where to begin?
It's difficult for me to sum up my feelings about this game right now, as they've been intertwined with considerably worse feelings for an unrelated matter that was ongoing as I played. But, I have to say, that this game holds a special place in my heart for the levity it brought to an otherwise grim day.
There are a good helping of unfinished paths, which I suspect won't be finished. The one path that is finished however, is lengthy and fleshed out, to the degree of being the equivalent of a finished game on here. There's a full helping of dialogue, both character and plot building, as well as some fun ideas thrown in. If you're like me, you'll feel somewhat annoyed at the forced choices as you go down that path and step into the linear track to the end, but I would say it was worth that. There was plenty of emotion in this story, and though it's not a story I would have written, I'm pleased that someone else did.
If, as I'm sure many are, you're just searching for material and hoping to get on with your day right after, I would recommend searching for another game, and coming back to this one when you have some time on your hands and a hankering for a story. I can hardly qualify this game as pornographic material, and were it not for the occasional nudity I would simply say that it was a 14+ visual novel.
Thank you for creating this game, and I hope that you're willing and able to put the work in to update it further. I would love to see a path related to Mika in a similar way to Ashley, as I always feel awful for the character that's clearly already into the protagonist being left behind. Mika deserves it, she worked hard~
